        The regularly scheduled meeting of the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Inc. Board of Directors, Committee Chairpersons, Delegates and Representatives was called to order by the Association President, Mr. Lawrence A. Ritz at 7:30 PM.  The meeting location was the Combined Training Center located at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, NY.



        The assembly was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and there was a moment of silence observed.



        With the calling of the roll, it was determined that a quorum existed to conduct all business brought to the floor by the attendees.



        The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with no additions or corrections on a motion called for by the Chairperson of the Meeting, Mr. Lawrence A. Ritz, the Association President.  1st by Mr. M. Smith.  2nd by Mr. L. Hicks.  The motion passed by voice acclimation with no dissent.



BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS:



        There was one bill presented to the Secretary for payment and one receipt for services.  These were passed over to the Treasurer for processing.



        There were a series of Communications that were read to the attendees and they were acting on by either passing them off to the appropriate attendee or disposal as either not pertinent or non informative.



Treasurer’s Report:    Mr. J. Princehorn

The complete financial report was read to the attendees and discussed by the Treasurer in great detail.



        There was a motion called for to pay the outstanding financial obligations of the Association by the Chairperson.  1st by Mr. R. Diehl. 2nd by Mr. J. Carberry.  The motion passed with no discussion.



        There was a motion called for by the Chairperson to accept the report of the Treasurer.  1st by Mr. J. Carberry.  2nd by Mr. R. Diehl.  The motion passed by voice acclimation with no dissent.



 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:



        The following committees had no report at this time for a variety of reasons: Audit, Budget and Finance, Fire Prevention Education, Fire Prevention Essay Contest, Hospitality Room, Historical, Public Relations, Resolution, Siren, Special Events, Topics, Transportation, Yearbook and Special Committees #1.



Banquet Committee:    Mr. W. Nichols

        The banquet will be held on May 3, 2008 at the Green Lantern Inn located at 99 South Main Street, Fairport, NY.  The times are 6:00 PM-Social Hour, 7:00 PM Dinner and Program.  Tickets are $25.00 each.  There will be no tickets sold at the door.



Constitution and Bylaws:    Mr. M. Smith

        Mr. M. Smith reports that the final product will be discussed at the Directors Workshop Meeting, scheduled for April 16, 2008.  The finished product will then be presented at the Quarterly Convention scheduled for April 24, 2008.



Emergency Medical Service:    Ms. D. Pfersick, R.N.

Explorers:

        The scout program that was to be held at the Firemen’s Home this year (2008) has been cancelled and will possibly be re-scheduled for 2009.  More information to follow as it becomes available.



Fire Prevention Safety Trailer:

        The Secretary will write a letter to the Scottsville Fire Department, c/o Mr. Glen Sickles informing all parties that the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association intends to donate/transfer to the Scottsville Fire Department the item commonly called, “The Safety Trailer”.  This transfer has been discussed in the past and through the recent efforts of Mr. R. Diehl, the business of transferal is about to be finalized.



Legislative:    Mr. W. Nichols

        There are legislative meetings scheduled for the following locations.

            March 29, 2008 at Alexander, NY.  Time 9:00 AM

            April 9, 2008 at the Shawnee Fire Department.  Time 9:00 AM

            April 6, 2008 at Himrod, NY.  Time 1:00 PM. (regular meeting at 2:00 PM)



Membership:    Mr. W. Nichols

        There are to date 1,518 paid individual memberships in the Association.  There are 46 group memberships paid to date and 1,417 FASNY memberships within the Association to date.



Nominating:    Mr. P. Tracy

        Mr. P. Tracy reports that there is no change in the reports already turned in and discussed. For a review, it can be found at the Association web site www.mcvfa.com.



Steering Committee:    Mr. D. Fox

        The Chairman, Mr. D. Fox rose to discuss the Steering Committee recommendations for various offices and committees.  The complete report is attached to these minutes and can be found at the Association web site www.mcvfa.com.



        The Directors voted to approve all recommendations of the Steering Committee by voice acclimation. There was no dissent.



        The first set (FASNY) by a motion called for by the Chair.  1st by Mr. R. Pfersick.  2nd by Mr. L. Hicks.



        The second set (NCNYVFA) by a motion called for by the Chair.  1st by Mr. L. Hicks.  2nd by Mr. M. Smith.



        The third set (WNYVFA) by a motion called for by the Chair.  1st by Mr. L. Hicks.  2nd by Mr. R. Chichester.



Special Committees:    Mr. D. Fox

#2. The Convention Committee:

        The minutes of the last Convention Committee are attached to these minutes and can be accessed at the Association web site www.mcvfa.com.



        There was a motion called for by the Chair to approve the Committee Reports as discussed.  1st by Mr. M. Smith.  2nd by Mr. L. Hicks.  The motion was accepted by voice acclimation.  There were no dissents.



REPORTS OF REPRESENTATIVES AND DELEGATES:



Finger Lakes Burn Association:

        The minutes of their current meeting are attached to these minutes and be accessed at the Association web site www.mcvfa.com.



Fire Advisory Board:    Mr. L. Ritz

        Areas of discussion were the Office of Emergency Preparedness and the proposed name change.  The ongoing radio frequency allocation protocols were reviewed as discussed at the last meeting.  As these frequency allocations are not yet official, they are not being posted.



        There is a severe problem with training block allocations to Monroe County.  To date they are 30,000 hours over state approval for this county.  More to follow on this most serious situation, as it is holding up training for line fire fighters.

Fire Districts and Fire Marshals had no report at this time.



County Fire Police:    Mr. L. Ritz for Mr. K. Fuller

        Next meeting is scheduled for Albion, NY on April 13, 2008.



FASNY:

        No report at this time.

 

NCNYVFA:

        Their next meeting will be on April 6, 2008 in Himrod, NY.  Time reported is 2:00 PM.

Their Banquet is scheduled for June 6, 2008 at the Showboat Motel and Restaurant, 3434 North Plum Point Road, Himrod, NY.



WNYVFA:

        Their next meeting is scheduled for April 13, 2008 in Albion, NY.  The Essay Contest Trophies will be given out at this meeting.  Monroe County had five (5) winners.



REPORT OF OFFICIALS AND DELEGATES:



Chaplains Association:    Mr. D. Fox

        The Association will be having their Convention this year on Long Island.



Coordinators Office:

        No report at this time.



FASNY:    Mr. D. Fox

        FASNY is seeking persons for various committee appointments.  Anyone interested in this, please get a resume to Mr. D. Fox for consideration involving these appointments.



Firemen’s Home:    Mr. D. Fox

        All the Monroe County residents are doing just fine at this time.

As a point of information…..the old building is now down and gone.



State Fire Police:

        No report at this time.



BATTALION REPORTS:



1st Battalion:

        WWFD has a new pumper in service.  It is known as 127.



2nd Battalion:

        Greece Ridge is possibly going to terminate ½ of their fire dispatchers and use the 911 center.  More information to be available as it becomes known.

The Barnard Fire Department, through a grant, will hire 4 Fire Fighters and EMS Personnel.                               


Battalion(s) 3, 4 and 5 had no report at this time.



OLD BUSINESS:



        There will be a letter written to the Scottsville Fire Department regarding the Safety Trailer and its transfer to them.  The letter will be written to Mr. Glen Sickles.

 

NEW BUSINESS



        Henrietta will be having their Ham Party on March 29, 2008 at House #1.  7:00 PM is the reported time.

GOOD AND WELFARE:



        Reported by Mr. G. Hendrickson…..The Clifton Fire Department will again be hosting their “Ever Popular Roast Beef Dinner” on April 26, 2008.



        With no additional business brought to the floor, there was a motion called for by the Chair to adjourn the meeting.  1st by Mr. J. Carberry.  2nd by Mr. R. Diehl.  The motion was carried with no dissent by voice acclimation.

The Closing Benediction was offered by the Acting Association Chaplain, Mr. Donald H. Fox.
