Minutes > January 18, 2006 Board of Directors Workshop

The regularly scheduled workshop meeting of the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Inc. was called to order by the Association President, Mr. Alan C. Way at 7:30 PM, Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the Combined Training Center located at 1190 Scottsville Rd. Rochester NY.

There was a moment of silence in honor of our departed members and the assembly was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag by the Association President, Mr. Alan C. Way.

With the taking of the roll call, it was determined that a quorum did not exist with which to conduct any business brought to the floor by those attending this workshop meeting.

The minutes of the previous meeting were held over for corrections or additions at the Quarterly Convention to be held in Rush NY on January 26, 2006.

There were no bills or communications acted on at this meeting due to the lack of a quorum.
Treasurer’s Report: Mr. J. Princehorn
Although Mr. J. Princehorn had a prepared Treasurer’s Report, it was not acted on due to the lack of a quorum.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
There was a report turned in by the Nominating Committee, (Mr. P. Tracy). That report is attached to these minutes.
The President supplied a list of meetings and conventions for the coming year.

The Constitution and Bylaws Committee is now ready to discuss the current changes to the Association Bylaws. It is reported that a large part of the “Corrections” entail a great deal of typographical errors and not changes to the organization in any large part. Mr. D. Sweet initiated a discussion of this ongoing project that is now ready to be brought to the floor at the next Quarterly Convention.

There was a discussion on the need to notify governmental entities when any changes are made to in place bylaws. (I can envision a visit from the new Office of Homeland Security Bylaws-Change Police demanding to see the Association bylaws at the point of a white-out stylus).

There is still a need for Directors for the 1st and 2nd Battalions. There were letters sent to all member groups within these battalions.

REPORTS OF OFFICIALS:
FASNY: Mr. D. Sweet
Mr. D. Sweet reports that the FASNY Credit Union is doing well and the insurance policy to the under 65 years of age members has been very well received so far. (In fact the FASNY Office has been swamped by applications thus far).

At this point the floor was turned over to the Treasurer, Mr. J. Princehorn for an in depth discussion of the finances of the Association.
This was a most interesting and far reaching discussion and it elicited several discussions of the overall financial health of the Association.

REPORT OF THE OFFICERS:

The President: Mr. Alan C. Way
Mr. & Mrs. Way attended Funeral Services for Janet Height’s mother, Mrs. Judd and Funeral Services for PFC Jason Hasenauer.
1st Vice President: Mr. Lawrence A. Ritz
No report at this time.
2nd Vice President: Ms. Diana Pfersick, RN
No report at this time.
With no additional items brought to the floor for discussion, the workshop meeting was adjourned at 9:05 PM by the Association President, Mr. Alan C. Way.

Respectfully Submitted,

J. K. Walsh
