The scheduled meeting of the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Board of Directors, Delegates, Representatives and other interested parties was called to order by the Association President, Mr. Lawrence A. Ritz at 7:30 PM. The location of the meeting was at the Combined Training Center located at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, NY.
The Sgt.-At- Arms, Mr. Larry Zarnstorff led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Association Acting Chaplain, Mr. Donald Fox offered the Opening Prayer for Guidance.
The Roll Call was taken and it was determined that there was not a quorum present to conduct any association business scheduled to be conducted.
The Association President, Mr. Lawrence A. Ritz then stated that this would be an informational meeting only and there would be no Association business brought to the floor for any official action.
In the excused absence of the Association Treasurer, Mr. James Princehorn, Mr. Christopher Dunn presented a Budget and Finance Committee proposed budget for the coming year, (2008) as a Power Point Presentation. There was a question and answer period following the presentation and it will be discussed at the Quarterly Convention scheduled for West Brighton.
There were no reports at this time taken from the Committee Chairpersons but for the following information only:
Fire Prevention Essay Contest: Mr. D. Fox
Mr. D. Fox reported that the Essay Contest material was now in the schools for the student’s efforts.
The Hospitality and Historical Committees were called on for reports….. there were none at this time. Any reports will be given at the Quarterly Convention in West Brighton.
The assembly was reminded of the Legislative Weekend coming October 27, 2007 in Albany NY.
Membership information is in the mail per Mr. W. Nichols.
The Nominating Committee and the Chairman, Mr. P. Tracy is still looking for letters of endorsement for the up coming election cycle.
Mr. D. Fox, the Acting Association Chaplain states that the Resolution List of deceased firefighters will be ready for the upcoming Quarterly Convention.
The Topics Committee Chairman was excused so no report was presented.
The Transportation Committee, (Mr. A. Way) reported that there were 44 paid passengers for the trip to the Firemen’s Home Dedication. He stated it was a great time for all that attended. The total cost of “Goodies” for the passengers’ enjoyment was $211.71.

Drills and Officials had no report, as the season was over.
Finger Lakes Burn Association:
The Finger Lakes Burn Association is still looking for an “Assistant Chairperson” to help the current Chairperson deal with the ever increasing workload.
Fire Advisory Board:
The Fire Advisory Board Representative, Mr. Lawrence A. Ritz briefly went over several procedural items that the Board had acted on.
There are no more Firefighter 1 Classes being held but there will be future offerings of this class. There will also be a Firefighter’s “Boot Camp”.
September 27, 2007 is the date of the C.F.R. Civil Service Test.
Fire Districts had no report at this time.
Fire Marshals: Mr. C. Dunn
The new fire codes take effect October 3, 2007.
County Fire Police: Mr. K. Fuller
October 13, 2007 is the date reported for the Fire Police Course to be held at the Brockport Exempts Facility. It is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and run till 5:00 PM. Lunch will be provided and the class is limited to 30 attendees.
The equipment grant has been reworked and is due to go back up the line for eventual future approval.
NCNYVFA: Mr. G. Burris
The report is attached to this report and it will be shared with the attendees at the future Quarterly Convention to be held October 18, 2007 at West Brighton.
WNYVFA: Mr. K. Fuller
The report will be given at the upcoming Quarterly Convention.
Chaplains and FASNY had no report at this time.
Firemen’s Home: Mr. D. Fox
Mr. Fox spoke on the festivities that took place at the Dedication of the Firemen’s Home. It was by all accounts a “Stellar” weekend enjoyed by all those attending this once in a lifetime event.
State Fire Police had no report at this time.
Barnard has a new pumper in service and a grant has been secured to hire more firefighters.
Brockport has dedicated their new Bronze Sculpture to replace the one that was done in wood. The sculpture depicts the firefighters holding the American Flag at the site of the World Trade Center following its destruction by terrorists. By all accounts…..it was a very moving ceremony.
The Director reports “a couple of major fires” that has kept them very busy.
There was a brief discussion of fund raising firms and the Association’s decision to go with Scott Dean and the Marketing Squad. This report was given by Mr. D. Fox.
From last month’s meeting:
The Association has agreed to provide postage to “Prevention 1st“ for their poster and flyer concerning fire safety. This bill will be less that $100.00.
There will be a page set aside in honor of E. Robertson North (by agreement).
There is a need for a Director from the 1st Battalion.
No locations yet for 2008 Quarterly Conventions.
There will be a new Convention Committee appointed by the Association President, Mr. Lawrence A. Ritz.

There then followed a general discussion of the 2008 Budget. There was some very good input by the assembled members that will be shared at the Quarterly Convention scheduled for October 18, 2007 at West Brighton Fire Department.
