April 2006 WNYVFA Report
31 May 2006

It is time to start making plans for the Annual Convention to be held in Niagara Falls this July at Niagara Active Hose, the Host Company. As previously reported, the Parade is to be held on Friday night, July 28 this year in hopes of having larger participation, the Fire Police Seminar is Saturday morning, and the Installation Banquet is Saturday night. Also as reported, our WNY Secretary, David Flynn, has decided not to retain his position past this year. It is not too late to seek this position if any one is interested. Contact our Steering Committee to start the process. I hope all WNY Member Companies have been receiving the mailings and will respond to them as needed. The joint venture between Monroe County and Churchville last year to promote our Candidates for offices in the Fire Service worked out very well. Would the Monroe County Board and the Steering Committee want to have the same arrangement this year? I would like to meet with Steering to see what they would like to do. With Western coming to Churchville in 2007, and FASNY coming to Rochester in 2008, we could start our promotions and introductions at Western this year. As always, Monroe County is more than welcome to Churchville’s hospitality. Churchville has a core committee started for the 2007 Western and it is working on the process of getting things ready. Help may be asked for as the time draws nearer, but it is too early to see what may still be needed. I will keep the Board updated on this subject. The next Quarterly meeting will be in Niagara Falls on April 23. I hope that members can attend it and help keep Western strong with their input and votes.
