WNY TRUSTEE REPORT AUGUST, 2006 The annual Convention was held at the Niagara Active Hose Company, Niagara Falls, New York on July 26 to 29, 2006. As the Trustee from Monroe County, I attended all the meetings that were required of me, and participated in discussions that may have concerns for our County, or the Western Association in general. I attended the annual audit of the books, and all were in order with very few discrepencies, of which all were cleared up during the meeting. The general meetings were well attended with good participation from those present. A section has been added to the by-laws concerning membership. From now on, members of Western who are in active Military service have their dues waived for the time they are in the Military, and retain their membership. Please pass this information on to your organizations, so we can get the word out. Elected to offices this year are: President-Forrest Skelton, 1st V.P.- Eric Bradshaw from Albion, Secretary-David Flynn from Niagara Falls, Treasurer-David Wolfe from Dansville. There were no nominations for 2nd Vice President made at Thursday's meeting, and that nomination remained open for Friday's meeting. A gentleman from Alden got word out to Tent City Thurs. night that he was interested and had the necessary support. Because of politics by some FASNY members, his name was never able to be submitted, so this position remains open. This will likely be voted on at the Quarterly meeting on September 10, 2006 at Niagara Active Hose. Any Western members are urged to attend as there may be a runoff election between more than one candidate. Because of my duties on the Fire Police and Fireman of the Year Committees, I was unable to attend the Memorial service,as these awards are presented following this service at a different sight. Again this year, a fire department received the Fireman of the Year award. Dansville was awarded for a rescue of 2 people from an apartment fire. Due to the lack of candidates for Queen, a paegent was not held this year. Instead Past President Andrew Pileki's daughter, Katie, has been appointed to the position for 2006-2007 by the Queen's Committee. They are hoping to have the paegent return in 2007, so anyone who knows of someone who would like to be Queen, please keep it in mind. Katie is thrilled with her appointment, and looks forward to working with Forrest during her reign. The banquet for President Bruce Isaman was held Saturday night, with around 60 in attendance. We had an excellent meal, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Bruce received several gifts and was appreciative. Also, the Officers in attendence for 2007 took their oath of office. Churchville Fire Department again thanks Monroe County for helping us this year with our expenses. The donation received went to help defray our costs at Convention. I hope everyone who attended liked our hospitality. We always try to give our County members a place to relax and enjoy themselves. Churchville is progressing toward completion of plans for the 2007 Convention. Everything seems on track to hold a successful Convention. Our Committees are working towards finalization of sights and speakers. We thank everyone in the County who has shown an interest to help us, and will keep them in mind. I thank the President for my appointment, and hope I have served you well. Respectfully submitted, Kenneth R. Fuller
