Northern Central Volunteer Firemen’s Assoc. Meeting Victor Fire Dept. 1/11/09
Steve Grandusky reported that 25 attended the eight hour Safety Officers class held on Oct. 2008.
Convention report- June 12-13 ,2009 will be held at the Quality Inn in Newark the location was changed due to lack of meeting rooms in Auburn.
2010-Convention Auburn Holiday Inn the parade will be in Weedsport.
2011- Convention someplace in Onondaga County.
2009 N.C. Firefighter of the year awards have two applicants so far. There were no applications last year. Deadline for applications-April 1, 2009.
Northern Central fund solicitor search- Marty Thomas first past president is heading a committee search seeking a fund raiser. No selection has been made yet. He reported that Onondaga County made $30,000 using a commercial fund raiser.
Northern Central parade rules- Russ Olmstead reported progress has been made cutting down the use of sirens and air horns in parades. Any offending parade unit will be disqualified from receiving parade awards. Russ reported there have been incidences of confusion when there was a real emergency and parade vehicles were sounding their warning devices. He also asked no candy be thrown to kids from vehicles. If you want to hand out sweets have people walk beside the truck and hand them to the children.
Northern Centrals yearbook-Earl Fagner stated that the ads taken in already have paid for the book and all additional ads will be profit. Earl asked that all Northern directors get three ads each for the book.
Northern Central Banquet on Oct. 17, 2009 tentivealy at Club 86.
FASNY report- Dave Sweet reported February 14, 15 winter games in Cortland.
EMS seminar in Montour Falls on March 7-8, 2009.
There will be no banquet on the Friday night of the FASNY banquet.
FASNY Firefighter of the year applications- there is an article in the Firefighter on them and the application is on the Fasny’s website.
The Home- David Schultz stated it is all quiet at the Home. Some damage was done to the cemetery fence due to high winds.
He also thanked all for his cards and calls of concern for his health during his heart problems he was surprised when some card senders expressed they didn’t think that he had a heart.
April 26, 2009 is the date of the next Northern Central meeting to be held in Geneva.
