Northern Central Volunteer Firemen's Association Meeting

- The Legislative meeting, run by Chairperson Janet Marie Skinner, addressed twenty three tems on the legislative scorecard. After discussion, it was decided that Northern Central will support seven of the scorecard items.
These items are:
- Cancer Impairment Bill
- Colunteer Firefighter And EMS Recruitment Funds
- Municipal deposits for credit unions
- Personal income tax credit adjustment
- Cost recovery of fire department ambulance service (change to ambulance and EMS service)
- Utility rate change
- Heart bill
- The Fallen Firefighter Memorial names will be put on automatically. Training and fire police deaths will also be included.
- Youth in the fire service - put on as a "study bill".
- Rich Webster spoke on fire service consolidation. He stated FASNY is working on an item that would solve the problem.
- Fire-police recruit traning has increased from 9 to 21 hours. All new fire-police will need 21 hours of training. It is unknown if current fire-police will be grandfathered into the new requirements.
- Guest speaker Ron Furman from his company "Caring People" made a presentation on telemarketing and fundraising.
- Dave Sweet asked that he be contacted is anyone is possibly seeking an open FASNY position. Dave also reported that the FASNY budget was adopted but is over 3/4 million dollars over their resouces. Glenn Sickles put in his name for the open Fire Prevention and Safety Committee position. The Legislative Conference is on October 23, 24, 2009. There will be a brief discussion on consolidation at his meeting.
- Western - Bill Nichols reported that Jerry Hendrickson broke his hip.
- Firemen's Home - Bill Blair reported 19.73% was cut from the Home budget with curtailing services to the residents.
- The 2010 Northern Cnetral Convention will be held on June 4 and 5th 2010 at the Auburn Holiday Inn.
