Northern Central Quarterly Meeting Jan. 13, 2008 Minoa Fire Department
Minoa N.Y. is on the outskirts of Syracuse. The firehouse is in a community center built like a strip mall. The building houses a library, police department, senior center, town offices and fire department. The building had an ice problem with water backing up under the roof shingles. The cure: a contractor wrapped the soffits and gutters in heavy vinyl and hot water is pumped through tubing incased in the vinyl. Its unsightly but stopped the leaks but also created a new problem. The melted snow runs off the roof causing large amounts of ice forming on the walks.
