EMS Update
27 Apr 2008

Rehab - The REMAC approved the policy entitled, Emergency Incident Rehabilitation at their regular meeting on Monday, April 21, 2008.  This policy is valid in Monroe and Livingston County and comes after much work and input from many sources in our Emergency Communities and provides a consistent method to help insure the health and safety of our Emergency Responders at serious and lengthy incidents.  Please find attached a copy of this policy for your use and each agency, Fire and EMS in communities is asked to start conversation on how they feel they can cooperatively provide this on scene service.  Currently there is a training component that is being developed and will be made available to agencies in the near future.

I would like to Thank Doctor Cushman and his very talented Committee that researched and developed this policy for our use.

Sam Derosa - The Third Battalion would like to welcome Fire Coordinator Sam Derosa to his new position.  Sam has long been a supporter of EMS Countywide and a very helpful resource to the Third Battalion agencies.

Third Battalion EMS Administrators meeting - The monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 1900 hours at the Perinton Ambulance base.  Administrators and agencies are asked to submit their agenda items by April 28th at 1800.

National EMS Weeks - EMS: Your Life is our Mission - This yearly weeklong recognition of our agencies and members starts on May 18th thru May 25th.  This week is a opportunity for both you as members, agencies, the community or government to recognize the valuable service performed each and every day by our staffs of dedicated members.  Please take time during this week to Thank the people in your organization and visit many of the agencies that will host Open Houses to show off their pride in their organizations.

Spring has Spring - Allergy Season is starting, whetter it be from environmental, insect or other sources, the incidences of allergy related calls is starting.  Please review your protocols to be ready for that next call.

Editor Needed - Due to the busy schedule of our previous "Third Battalion Spotlight" editor, she has had to step down from this position, as well as from the agency she was a member in.  This Quarterly newsletter was a opportunity for all agencies and individuals involved in Third Battalion Emergency Services to highlite the many great things happening.  I am asking for help in the form of a Editor to take on the responsibility of this project to allow us to continue to promote the many great things happening in EMS and the Third Battalion.
