Family and Friends - This is not a pitch to get you to buy a cell phone plan, rather a reminder of what is important in life.  Many of you have suffered setbacks personally and professionally, as well have seen the worst that society has to offer, but ALWAYS remember the important things in life and that is your Family and Friends .

Thompson Hospital - FF Thompson has installed a new ED notification radio and asks that ALL patients being brought to their facility, be radioed ahead.  This radio is on 340 and is coded 342 to activate.  If you are unable to get thru on the radio, please call the Charge Nurse phone at 396-6820 to notify.

Defensive Driving/EVOC Class - There are three (3) Driver Improvement classes scheduled in the near future.  Please consider one of these classes to review you safe driving skills, as well as receive a personal reduction on your insurance rates.

May 12 and 14 - 1900 to 2200 - AAA class - DMV approved - 10% insurance reduction/4 points reduction - Cost $27 - Honeoye Falls Ambulance
May 19 and 28 - 1900 to 2230 - EVOC - Monroe County Fire Bureau course - Recognized by NYS OFP&C - No Cost - Honeoye Falls Ambulance
June 3 and 5 - 1900 to 2230 - Utica National EVOC - Recognized by NYS DOH and NYS OFP&C - - No Cost - Additional day to be scheduled for skills portion - Chili Fire Department
Take Your Child to work Day - This national event, held on April 24,  allows our Children to get a better understanding of our Career.  I would ask you to share you job, whetter in be in Career Emergency Services or serving as a Volunteer in your community.  While it may be impractical to have our Children ride on alarms, please take the time to help educate them in what often is your 2nd career, as it may also excite them and they may soon follow in your footsteps.

RHIO Grant - The Greater Rochester Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) has been awarded a total of 12.7 million dollars to help facilitate the availability of patient information on many levels in a confidential manner to help in pre-hospital to discharge of the patient.  Our region is very fortune to have this insight and ability, as well as the financial means to help implement a program of this importance

REHAB -   A committee consisting of many individuals from a variety of backgrounds ranging from medical, fire, ems and many other specialties are currently working on a document for agencies to use to provide a consistent expectation for Rehab at large incidents.  Your input is definitely welcome, as the comment period for this document is open till Wednesday, April 9.  Please view and comment on this important document that will help keep our Emergency Service personnel healthy and safe at opc@urmc.rochester.edu

STEP - By the time you read next weeks edition, the 2008 STEP Conference,  being held next Friday and Saturday will be just a memory.  Don't be one of the people who has to hear about the great stories second hand, plan to join us for the exciting speakers, excellent banquet and interaction with people from many agencies both near and far.    This event is held at the RIT Inn and Conference Center in Henrietta.
