Residential Sprinklers

Last year the International Code Council added provisions to the 2009 Residential Building Code to require sprinklers to be installed in all new one and two family homes.
As the International Codes Council prepares to conduct its 2012 Codes review cycle, the National Association of Home Builders (NHAB)has submitted a proposal to have this provision removed from the Codes.
Although New York has not adopted the residential sprinkler requirement yet (NY is one cycle of revisions behind the ICC), a defeat here would mean that this provision would probably never be included in the upcoming Residential Building Code of New York.
The vote on this proposal from NAHB, will be conducted at the ICC Hearings in Baltimore on October 28, 2009.
If you are an ICC member or know an ICC member, please have them vote against the proposal of NAHB for removing this provision of the Code.
